Black on Black Reflection

REFLECTION:

Describe your experience with a palette knife:

· What surprised you? The palette knife was easier to use than I thought.

· What frustrated you? Getting the colors right frustrated me.

· How did you overcome any frustration? I made the correct blacks that I saw.

· Would you use it again? I would use the palette knife again.

Why not? Why? Under what circumstances? It is fun to summarize a painting.

· What did you learn about painting and your “thinking” by using a palette knife?

I focused more on the shapes and less on the detail.

PAINTING EVALUATION:

Have you shown reflected color and shapes? Yes I have shown reflect color and shapes.

Choice of composition draws the eye through the painting from front to back. (not side to side) Tell where and how. The lipsticks draw the painting more inward.

All objects ( shoes, cups, fabric,etc) appear to be in same light.

Did you SUMMARIZE, generalize, OR ITEMIZE the visual information. Refer to specific areas of your painting and be specific.

I summarized the clock in the back and I itemized parts of the lipstick but also summarized the bottom of it.

Kudos to another artist- whose work from among your classmates do you think met the criteria best? WHY?

Jen Kelly's work was amazing. She worked really hard and I think she met her criteria best. The shapes are nicely painted and her black on black reflection is fabulous.

What do you obsess about?

I obsess about health food and drinks. I love Odwalla!

Tall Glass of Water

I think my size view placement is very interesting. I thought of the water as shapes of dark and light colors. I created a sense of transparency very well. My ellipses and viewpoints are correct and consistent. My paint colors are clean and clear. I completed my painting in less than 3 hours. My choice object (beaded bracelet) in the water reflected personal choice. It was made by best best friend. My personal choice represents friendship. I was very focused on my worked and I used my clsas time effectively. I achieved a believable illusion of transparency.

Art Project

Special Place

A special place to me is the art room. My friends and I have spent a lot of our off mods in the art room ever since freshman year. We have a lot of good memories and more to come.

Where do you spend your time?

I love staying healthy and big part of that includes working out. I like spending my time at the gym. I consider working out fun and I do it because I like to.

What is family?

Besides my actual family, to me family is also my friends and my pets. I have pictures of some of my close friends and my kitten.
